This test measures how fast and accurately you can type a short passage of common words. Words per minute (WPM) is calculated the standard way used by typing tests worldwide: every 5 characters you type (including spaces) counts as one "word", so WPM = (characters typed ÷ 5) ÷ minutes elapsed. Characters per minute (CPM) is the same measurement without the /5 step. Both are measured from the moment you press your first key to the moment you finish the passage.
Error rate is the share of keystrokes that didn't match the expected character at the time you typed them — if you notice a mistake and backspace to fix it, the earlier wrong keystroke still counts against your accuracy, exactly like most competitive typing tests. Average typists reach 35–45 WPM, experienced typists 60–80 WPM, and competitive typists can exceed 120 WPM. After the test, enter a nickname of up to 8 alphanumeric characters to save your score to the global leaderboard. Higher WPM is better.
