Hangman

Guess the rare word, one letter at a time

Over 2000 rare English and Russian words — matched to your current site language. Guess a letter at a time before the drawing is complete. Keep your streak alive across words for a bigger final score, then get a star rating out of 5.

Hangman is a free take on the classic word-guessing game: a word is picked at random from a bank of over 2000 curated words — deliberately skewed toward rarer, more interesting vocabulary rather than everyday basics — and you guess it one letter at a time. Every wrong guess adds a piece to the drawing; six wrong guesses and the game ends.

Solve a word and the next one begins immediately, extending your streak and adding to your score — fewer mistakes and longer words are worth more points. The word bank switches automatically between English and Russian based on the site's current language, so switching with the En / Ru buttons in the top bar also switches which vocabulary you're guessing from the next round.

When the drawing finally completes, your total score converts into a star rating from 1 to 5 — the same rating idea used elsewhere on this site — so you can compare runs at a glance. Play with the on-screen keyboard or just type on a physical keyboard.

Hangman plugs into the same global leaderboard system used across this site's benchmarks — enter a nickname after a run and your score is ranked against every other player's, not just stored locally on your device.
