About removing image backgrounds
Removing a background separates the main subject from its surroundings. Cutouts are useful for product photos, presentations, posters and profile images. A transparent background lets the subject sit naturally over another colour or design.
Fine details such as hair, glass and soft shadows are harder to separate than clear edges. Automatic results should be checked at full size, especially when the original background resembles the subject. Small manual corrections can make a cutout look more natural.
A transparent PNG preserves the empty area around the subject. JPEG does not support transparency, so it is not a suitable format for the final cutout. Keep the original photo if you may want to edit the selection again later.
