About webcam tests

A webcam captures moving pictures for calls, lessons, streams and recordings. Its apparent clarity depends on the lens, lighting, focus and the connection as well as its pixel resolution. A quick preview can reveal framing or lighting problems before an important conversation.

Frame rate describes how many distinct images appear each second. A higher rate can make motion look smoother, but dim light and a busy device may reduce the rate seen in practice. Checking both image size and motion gives a more useful impression than a resolution label alone.

Video recording is useful for short messages, demonstrations and practice presentations. Sound is optional when pictures alone are enough. Before sharing a recording, review what appears in the background and whether other people have agreed to be filmed.
